«L’Hostal és Cabrils, és la cuina d’quí, la de toda la vida. És una gran familia, és cultura. Son retrobades emocionants però sobretot, és alegría».

The history of Hostal de la Plaça is intrinsically tied to a family whose dedication and passion have left an indelible mark on this beloved establishment. For over 80 years, three generations of this family have worked tirelessly to make it a landmark in the hotel and culinary industry of the region. It all began with the brave entrepreneurs who founded this family business. Back in 1943, Doloretes Galbany and her husband Josep Mas decided to bring to life a small inn to accommodate the Barcelona vacationers of the time, in the heart of Cabrils, they called it "la Fonda." With a clear vision and unwavering determination, they embarked on the adventure of offering hospitality and comfort to travelers visiting the area.

From the very beginning, Doloretes and Josep laid the foundations of what would become a true family institution. Their tireless dedication, attention to detail, and friendly demeanor set the stage for the hospitality that remains a distinctive hallmark of Hostal de la Plaça to this day. As the years went by, the founding family passed on their love and knowledge to future generations. Their daughter, Aurora Mas, and her husband Andreu Masiques inherited the passion for the family business, carrying on the tradition and guiding the inn to new heights of excellence. At the age of 27, Montserrat Masiques, one of the 9 descendants of the entrepreneurial couple, decided to enter the world of hospitality, working for over 30 years as a dining room manager.

Currently, in 2023, Montserrat decided to venture on her own and open her own restaurant in the coastal town of Vilassar de Mar. She founded the successful Verdaguer Vilassar, a small restaurant serving traditional cuisine, with the assistance of her sister Dolors Masiques and her close friend and head chef, Carlos Vega.
Together, they ran this lovely establishment for several years.
Today, in 2023, Montserrat has taken up the family business again with the help of her two sons, Vicenç, a young finance enthusiast with a passion for the global economy, and Enric Batista, who worked for several years in famous luxury hotels in the Netherlands. In the end, two young individuals who always dreamed of carrying on the family business of many decades, with their experienced mother.
Like a close-knit family, they continue to share their legacy with the guests and visitors who walk through the doors of the inn. Their presence remains palpable in every corner, reminding us of the commitment and dedication that have endured over the years. The founding family of Hostal de la Plaça has not only built a successful business but has also forged deep ties with the local community. Their generous spirit and focus on service have made the inn a gathering place for locals and travelers alike. Today, as Hostal de la Plaça celebrates more than eight decades of existence, the founding family remains the heart and soul of this establishment. Their legacy lives on in every smile, every dish, and every moment of hospitality offered to those fortunate enough to visit this family treasu
